Kyytiin uses a secure wallet system to manage payments and transactions. This document explains how the wallet works, how money flows through the system, and how payouts are processed.
The wallet system provides a convenient way to store funds, make payments for trips, receive earnings, and withdraw money to your bank account.
2. What is a Wallet?
A wallet is a digital account that holds your funds on the Kyytiin platform. Every user automatically gets a wallet when they register.
- Balance: The amount of money currently in your wallet
- Total Earned: Total amount you've earned from trips (as a driver/traveler)
- Total Spent: Total amount you've spent on trips (as a passenger/requester)
3. How Wallet Works
3.1 Adding Money to Your Wallet (Top-Up)
You can add money to your wallet using our secure payment gateway:

3.2 Paying for Trips
When you join a trip, payment can be made from your wallet balance. The system will:
Full Wallet Payment
If you have enough balance, the full trip amount is deducted from your wallet. The driver immediately receives the payment in their wallet.
Partial Wallet Payment
If you have some balance but not enough, the system uses all your wallet balance and redirects you to pay the remaining amount via payment gateway.
No Wallet Payment
If your wallet is empty, you'll be redirected to the payment gateway to pay the full amount. After payment, money goes directly to the driver's wallet.
3.3 Earning Money as a Driver/Traveler
When passengers pay for trips, the money is automatically added to your wallet:

4. Platform Commission
Kyytiin applies a platform commission fee on all trip bookings. This commission is used to maintain and improve the platform, provide customer support, and ensure secure payment processing.
4.1 How Commission Works
When a passenger books a trip, the platform applies a commission percentage to the trip price. The commission amount is calculated at the time of booking and is clearly visible to both drivers and passengers.

Driver Receives Net Amount
Drivers receive the trip price minus the commission. The commission amount is tracked but the full payment amount is received in the driver's wallet.

All commission details are stored with each booking for historical reference. You can view the commission breakdown in your transaction history.
4.2 Commission Rate Changes
Platform commission rates may change depending on market demand, platform costs, and business requirements. We maintain full transparency about commission rates:
- Current Rate Visible: The current commission rate is always displayed when you create a trip
- Rate Locked at Booking: The commission rate is locked when a booking is made, even if rates change later
- Historical Records: All commission changes are recorded for complete transparency
- Advance Notice: Significant commission rate changes will be communicated to users in advance when possible
Commission rates can be adjusted based on market conditions, demand, and platform operational costs. This flexibility allows us to maintain competitive pricing while ensuring platform sustainability. Each booking uses the commission rate that was active at the time the trip was booked, ensuring fairness and transparency.
